ReplyDeleteMy First Love
The moment I beheld her, I knew that I was in love with her. I simple could not take my two, bold, blue eyes away. I was so captivated by her golden, brown, chocolate body. I knew from the start she was going to be mine and no other will take her place. As she stood there staring at me, I recognized that she was perfectly made. Her hour glass, coco cola, slender body caught my attention. The silver hook that is attached to the upper part of her slender body reminds me of a beautiful, red fish caught dangling from the fisherman’s net. I could not resist her freshly, painted varnish scent. As I stretched out my unshapely, rough hands to touch her smooth, shinning, soft, yet firm body, I felt unworthy of her love and attention. To my amazement, the sales clerk stated, “she will nice on you. As a matter of fact, she fits your complexion. Take her it is only twenty EC dollars.” I pulled out my old, shabby purse from my pocket and quickly purchase the natural, bamboo made earring.
The Vegetable Market
ReplyDeleteIn the heart of Kingstown stands an enormous, peachish, uniquely styled building known as the Kingstown Vegetable Market. The four storey, rectangular shaped building is home to lots of vendors and their different stalls and also entrepreneurs (both young and old) with boutiques, restaurants and bars. It is accessible from four different points. The main entrance being directly opposite the court house, side entrances from Jax enterprises to your left and Bonadies #1 from your right and the back entrance faces the old market.
Entering the first floor you are bombarded by numerous odors- some appetizing while others make you scrunch up your face, and others still draw you in to explore the different stalls with a variety of fruits, vegetables and other locally produced products. Looking around the colorful sights grabs your attention. The red tomatoes and sweet peppers, the yellow pineapples, mangoes, passion fruits, the dirty looking ground provision that actually tastes very nice. Visiting one of the tightly packed stalls the variety of products is amazing. Cornmeal that is locally grounded, coconut oil with bits of leaves inside, red hot pepper sauce, guava, and mango, jams and jellies, vegetables, fruits, and other little miscellaneous that we sometimes need.
The little girl in the secret garden
ReplyDeleteIt was a calm, radiant afternoon when Lily decided to take a cool stroll in her secret garden. Lily was an orphan with a great imagination. She had pale, brown eyes which show emotion of the struggles of being alone and unloved. Despite her pale eyes, she had beautiful flowing hair that compliments her inner beauty. She spent most of her days looking out her bedroom window, into her backyard which lays her secret garden.
Lily peeks through the window as she remembers the joyous times she had in her garden, with great anticipation to return again. Hurriedly, Lily rushed through the hall, down the long stairways and out into the open air. She stood still with her arms outstretch; her head tilted back giving her a clear vision of the blue sky, as she inhales the fresh, clean air. Lily strutted down the narrow path; admiring the lush green trees as they dance in awe with the motion of the breeze. The birds sang melodiously, which gives her a peaceful sense of mind that inspires the urge for her to move further into the secret garden. What the garden beholds is left to Lily’s wide imagination.
Garfield
ReplyDeleteOld age does not hinder a person’s gift. Garfield is a tall and slender old man. Although he is sixty years old, his body has not lost its elasticity. He is dark brown in complexion. His matted hair hangs loosely over his forehead slightly covering his eyes that are as bright as a sixty watt bulb. When Garfield smiles, his crooked mouth reveals brown vampire teeth. Garfield always wears baggy jeans with stripped coloured T-shirts. His knee high yellow socks always make the children laugh. Elongated toes protruded through the battered red soft mash. Every morning he gets up to do his daily routine. He would start out by stretching his long hands to the sky, then rotating his slender body, he starts sprinting down the street. Garfield trains young athletes how to run. He always has a willing and humorous attitude towards young people. Garfield is a gifted old man.
The Stranger
ReplyDeleteI was greeted one bright, sunny morning by a strange looking creature in human form. The hair on its head was thick and bushy as though it had not been combed in months. His round face was almost completely covered in hair. Thin lips peeked through the thick hairs of his mustache and beard which seemed matted together. His eyes were fiery balls bulging beneath his wide forehead. His flat nose and flaring nostrils stood firmly in the middle of his face. He was tall and very slim and appeared as though he was going through a really rough time. He swayed unconsciously like a coconut tree standing in the breeze. His clothes were torn from top to bottom and the stench that emanated from him made cat puke smell like perfume.
My Neighbour
ReplyDeleteAcross the street in an old fashioned house lives Mrs. Dory. She is short and stout with very long grey hair which is usually covered with a broad straw hat. Because of her dark complexion her skin shimmers whenever she is in the sun. Mrs. Dory has eyes as glossy as pearls and lips that are always pursed. She wears more make-up and jewels than an Egyptian queen but her wrinkled face and hands tell us she’s a lot older than she portrays. She is always attired in clothing seen only in fashion books and moves about like a model on stage. Mrs. Dory’s daily routine begins at six every morning when she comes out to water her plants and feed her many pets. She smiles and sings as she does her chores cheerfully. About an hour later she can be seen picking fruits and vegetables from her garden. When she is finished, she takes some of these fruits to the nearby centre for the elderly. At twelve noon Mrs. Dory sits in a chair in her porch to have her lunch. After eating she goes to her rocking chair where she usually falls asleep with her fluffy cat in her lap. When she awakes she gathers fruits in a basket and place them on her wall for the children on their way home from school. About six in the evening, Mrs. Dory retires indoors and is not seen until six the next morning.
An old man
ReplyDeleteHe stood in a corner leaning his wrinkled, leaned body against the wall with a huge, old black bag which hung from his drooping shoulders; appearing to be in desperate need for help. A dirty, stained straw hat rested loosely on his head seeping out from under it were long silver hair that swizzles on his back. It appears as though he lacks several days rest from the looks on his tire, narrowed face. He was wearing a pants that was twice his size with two black, torned suspensors which helps to support it on to his thin figured body. Also, he wears a vest which was once white but now black and is in dire need of washing. On his feet he wears a pair of white, clean, Nike sneakers which some how is placed wrongly. He speaks in a soft gentle voice with the last word fading in the air.
THE ABANDONED HOUSE
ReplyDeleteIt stood alone at the edge of the river, partially camouflaged by the over growth of vines. We stumbled upon it, while playing hide and seek and instantly became curious by what seemed from the outside to be an ancient work of art.
We gained entry though a door hanging on one hinge, which squeaked noisily with the slightest touch. Our steps caused clouds of dust to arise from the floor making us sneeze uncontrollably while rats scurried in every direction, even across my feet. I screamed and breathed deeply but gagged as the musty smell of wet decaying wood and animal droppings filled my nostrils.
I ventured through the house following the only illumination, a single ray of sunlight seeping through a hole in the rotting roof. On the wall was a portrait of a man with piercing eyes which followed our every move. We stared at the strange face and suddenly it winked, causing us to scurry as the rats through the opened door.
